Something I've learned as a writer (of fiction) is that sometimes my ideas are a bit more complex than my ability to execute them at that moment. Sometimes, I have to go live life and come back with some new experiences and wisdom to be able to make good on an idea. I didn't think about that happening with songwriting as well but that sounds like part of the reason "Hell No" took some time to be fully realized -- you weren't were you needed to be as musician and songwriting yet to make it what it was supposed to be. This is so so so true. Honestly, that's how the whole Avatars Of Love album felt, like I was finally able to take on a level of writing and ambition that I had not been equipped to handle earlier, cause I hadn't lived the experience. And similar with Please-era as well. Things fell into place that hadn't felt accessible for me as a writer (and thinker), and suddenly it's the most natural part of the process and you can make good on the ambition and the idea more fully.
