I couldn’t say it better than my Twin Heidi. Keep on shining dear Sondre. We all miss you here a lot. Sending positive vibes, hugs and lots of love!! Keep well. ♥️
Sondre, these are the most beautifully written words coming from your heart! I have incredible respect for songwriters who are able to write such gorgeous music like yours! The melody, the lyrics are always touching my heart and I love it so much! I can’t fathom how you are able to write soo many different songs and I am sure it must be very difficult at times , especially nowadays during these horrific unprecedented times! 😢
Be easy on yourself! I know it will all come to you in time! You have soo many outstanding songs which make our hearts feel great! It amazes me how you can keep on finding new materials! You are a huge talent and I love all of you! Thank you for making us feel all we can feel with your sweet tunes! Keep shining! Btw nice selfie!!!! 💜💜💜
Love this post. Love the writer of this post. Absolutely love the astonishing music the writer of this post has been making for decades now. Please, Sondre, we need your music and your light more than ever. Bravo. And thank you.
I saw Don Was interview the master Charles Lloyd last week at the Big Ears Festival (which you should play sometime, btw). Lloyd said, “What you’re looking for is looking for you.”
This post reminded me why I've always appreciated your writing, both in music and in prose. You have the ability to articulate the creative struggle in a way that's simultaneously vulnerable and reassuring. Everyone has fallow periods, I know you know this. Relief will come, results will materialize and the inspiration will find you when the time is right. Harder to sit with the uncertainty and discomfort, but a necessary part of the journey.
Has the problem child brought any other new songs to the world? Sometimes when I get stuck, I put it aside and something else comes out and surprises me.
I love the idea of outlining an arc. Too often I write like a ‘choose your own adventure’ book. Maybe this will happen next? No, wait.. this!
Arcs and problem children. Both integral parts of creating. Can’t wait to hear this song once it arrives. Put an asterisk on it please, so we’ll know which song it is off the album. :-)
It hasn’t directly spurred any other songs, but I’ve put it aside many times to find fulfilling work on other songs. Thankfully! But now it’s just getting ridiculous, and I’ve stopped all other songs from progressing until this one resolves. But that may not be so smart, it seems. I’ll let it be known which one it is. Right now it’s call «fast ballad».
I feel like I came across this at the perfect time in my life, and your words are so inspiring, Sondre. I was recently thinking that I miss writing songs, but starting the process feels so daunting. I love the idea that you don't wait for the song to come to you, but instead just sitting down and trying things out. I appreciate you sharing these thoughts, and I can't wait to hear what comes of this problem child song!

LOVE! You two are the best audience a musician can dream of! 💜
We LOVE YOU SONDRE!! 💜💜💜

You are too kind, Heidi! Thanks for listening and for letting the music get to you! It is my joy (and pain) to do it! 💜

Thank you Peter! All the love from Norway! 💜

Beautiful! I like to believe this is true, and sometimes the distances are greater than others
Ain’t that the truth?

Thanks Lisa! It’s all part of the same search for a way to express what needs to be!
That photo caption is everything
My finest work of yesterday.

Not settling! I love it.
